Longleaf Trace Birthday Challenge
The Longleaf Trace Birthday Challenge...a celebration of life and fitness...is held each second Saturday in November. The challenge is to run, walk, bike, roller blade or wheelchair your age in kilometers on the Longleaf Trace. The starting and finishing line is in the Gateway Park near Columbia Avenue in Prentiss. Aid stations are provided at approximately three-mile intervals; fluids available at all stations, food at alternate stations. Entrants may start any time during the day, but should schedule their "challenge distance" no later than 4:00 p.m. There is no entry fee, however donations are accepted. Custom medallions are presented to the first 300 individuals who complete their challenge. Free entertainment begins at 4:00 p.m. at Gateway Park and birthday cake is available for all participants.
Course Description: The Longleaf Trace meanders through beautiful forests, crosses live streams, passes small scenic lakes and passes through small towns. The course is relatively flat and November is the peak month for fall foliage along the Trace.
"Relay for Life"
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

"Run for the Roses"
The Run for the Roses, a Mississippi Track Club Grand Prix Event, is held each year on the second Saturday in April. Produced by the Jefferson Davis County Chamber of Commerce with extensive community support, the race is one of Mississippi's premier road races attracting nearly one thousand participants each year. The Walking Division provides awards for individual and team walkers. Additional events are the One Mile Run/Walk, a favorite of local and visiting youngsters as well as adults, and the 1/4 Mile Preschool Run.
